One of my followers from social media followers recently requested information on

Genital Herpes. So I've come to the blog to do an informative spill on the topic!

Genital Herpes is a common sexually transmitted infection caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV-2). Sexual contact is the is the primary way that the virus spread/contracted. After the initial infection, the virus lies dormant in the hosts body and can reactivate several times a year. Persons with genital herpes are often unaware and may be asymptomatic.

Not to be confused with...

HSV-1 is the virus that causes cold sores or fever blisters. If you have ever had a cold sore, even as a child, you will probably test positive for HSV-1. 58% of people in the U.S. are positive for HSV-1, and many never experience symptoms. About half of Americans test positive for HSV-1 by age 30.
